Advanced Vision’s DataSafe Program
Advanced
Vision’s DataSafe Program
is an archiving solution that overcomes the limitations
of tape. It includes all the tools and functions you
need to manage your distributed data from one central
location, securely, reliably and efficiently.
It lets
you effectively protect all your data, across your
entire network.
Whether
your data resides in servers, desktops or laptops; in a
central LAN or distributed across a global WAN, you have
the ability to archive it in a Level-III datacenter.
Data from all these “data islands” can be securely
encrypted compressed and transmitted over your network
infrastructure to a central online repository for short
and long-term archiving.
Central Data Storage = Peace of Mind
Centralized storage simplifies administration,
significantly lowers IT overhead and provides the peace
of mind knowing that your entire organization has a
reliable disaster recovery plan. Tapes
are subject to being misplaced, lost or stolen. When
that happens you are responsible for notifying the
authorities and any regulatory bodies of the problem and
how you are addressing the issue. Should you have personal information on the
tapes, like Social Security numbers, financial data or
even dates of birth and addresses, it is your
responsibility to notify those whom could be potentially
damaged and assist with their protection and recovery.
That alone could threaten the future of your
organization.
Reliability
How many times have you heard the story
of businesses relying on a tape recovery only to
discover during the disaster that:
 |
The data wasn’t
actually being stored to the tape.
|
 |
The data on
the tape was somehow damaged and the data is
irretrievable. |
This is not uncommon and can be prevented
with DataSafe’s automatic archiving and validation
process. In addition to being archived this process
verifies that the encrypted data is restorable. That
means peace of mind that the data will be
there when you need it!
Reduce Your Legal
Exposure
Many
companies believe that taking their tapes home with them
at night provides a good method of protecting their
data. On the surface that sounds reasonable, however this
practice can
prove to be a very costly and embarrassing mistake.
Archived data usually contains personnel records and
confidential information. If you do a lot of work
electronically with clients, you may have confidential client data
in your systems. By taking that information
off-site you are assuming personal liability of the data
contained within the tapes. If your house or car is
broken into and the tape is stolen the risk from
legal action from clients or employees increases
dramatically. Even if it is not stolen, you could have
to prove constant control of the tape in order not to be
responsible for potentially compromising the data.
Transportation and storage of your archive tapes in
a non-secured method could expose you to liability with
regard to negligence in the safeguarding of confidential
data. The company could also be at risk of
being negligent by allowing this practice.
DataSafe will provide the geographic separation and
security of your data. The “dual-key” encrypted and
compressed data is sent via a secured tunnel to our
datacenter in Kansas City, Missouri. It is also
replicated to a secondary datacenter in Illinois. These
facilities provide the continuous positive control of
your data. Our datacenter operations group does not have
access to either of the encryption keys, so there
is no chance of data compromise.
